Treat Yo' Self | Honey Turmeric Mask
This year, I'm learning the importance of taking steady care of my skin & body. In many ways, doing a face mask, going to the gym & feeding myself nutrition-rich and seasonal foods is how I practice my version of self-care.
Today, I will be filling y'all in on my Honey Turmeric Mask.
A good mask doesn't need to be expensive, especially if you have all the right ingredients. Buying a good base clay powder such as Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is great because you can mix in an endless amount of add-ins & oils for your skin. Usually, I mix my Bentonite clay with green tea because it's soothing for my skin.
However, some people use apple cider vinegar and swear by it but personally, I avoid Apple Cider Vinegar on my skin or hair.
To each their own...the choice is yours.
If you have a pre-made clay at home like Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque or Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask, that would also be great for this recipe. Using pre-made mask might prove easier for people that don't like dealing with loose powders.
I love this mask because the clay naturally detoxifies and mattifies my oily skin, the honey moisturizes my skin, the turmeric brightens up my face & gives me a wonderful glow.
This heavenly trio does wonderful things for my combination/oily skin.
All the ingredients in the mask are great for dry skin as well, as long as you follow this treatment with a natural and lightweight moisturizer.
I also use this mask in the summertime on darker skin areas that I have, such as my inner thighs, armpits and knees.
For this mask recipe, you'll need the following ingredients;
- 3 tablespoons of a premade clay or a Bentonite clay paste
- 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons of honey
Directions:
- Add all the ingredients into a glass bowl, and using your fingers and plastic spoon, stir all the components until smooth.
- Spread the mask on your face.
- Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes
- Rinse your face with warm water & blot dry.
- Smile while admiring your beautiful skin.
Let me know how amazing your skin feels after this mask in the comments!
As always, love & light,
Rachel.
