OOTD: The Pink Period

A couple of years ago, if anyone assumed pink was my favorite color, I was aggressively deny it because I refused to conform the stereotype that "girls love pink".

I'm a bit more grown now and I have the courage to admit that I love the color pink.

That being said, welcome to the pink period.

My favorite thing about fashion and style is that it can be anything you want it to be. Forget the trends and the fashion shows, my style is all about me & what I am feeling.

It can be as diverse or as limited as I'm feeling and the expression of my personal style is an extension of my personal self.

You all know me as the "earth tone mami" but I'm slowly transitioning into different color schemes, simply for the sake of experimentation and curiosity.

For me, the pink period is a time of softness, healing and an appreciation of the outer and underlying beauty of life. That's what I feel when I wear pink. It reminds me of love and beauty and how easily I can tap into those resources through an outfit.

This is the month for love (and black history) and with pink being one of my favorite colors, it was natural to start here. I'm a person that loves love, and the pink period is an outward expression of that.

My first look features a simple jumper accessorized to the nines. I love the ease of a simple sweater because it's comfortable while keeping me warm during this frigid winter. The addition of the combat boots adds a bit of spunk and additional comfort to this street-chic look.

My second look is more on the modern-vintage style and features a baby-doll dress and turtleneck combination. I live for  a baby-doll dress and often, I only rock it during the spring but when putting together a softer look, I couldn't leave it out.

Baby-dolls are the epitome of feminity and softness in fashion.

For this period in my life, I'm treating myself with tenderness & the utmost of care. You should too.

How do you feel about wearing the color pink?

Let me know in the comments.

Love & Light,

Rachel.
